May 11 – 15th is Bike to Work, School, Play Week in Lake Tahoe
Bike to Work, School, Play promotes a healthy, environmentally-friendly commute to work and school and gets Tahoe basin residents out of their cars — reducing air pollution and traffic congestion. Employees, students, and patrons arrive in a good mood, parking needs are reduced, and our community is more friendly, healthier, and a more sustainable place in which to live, work and play.
Shoreline employees have been riding their bikes to work for years. Every spring till late fall you can find them peddling their way back and forth to work. Bike to work week helps get the message out to those who aren’t in the habit, you should try it, its a great habit…stop by Shoreline and check out our new bikes from Chumba, Norco, Jamis and Nirve. See ol’ Charlie to get your ride tuned for the summer….May $10.00 off tune up Coupons are now being mailed out in the Target coupon book See ya….
Check out the view from the bench. This is a great ride. It has some technical sections, but they are easy to walk if you lack the skills to ride. I’m one that lacks the skills to ride these sections so I just hop off my bike and walk for a very short distance. For those of you that don’t understand what a “technical section” means I have a general description below. It generally means tight rocks or very thin lines (areas to pass) where more advanced riding skills are needed. I have to be honest, although I am embarrassed to admit that on my last ride to the bench I didn’t bring enough water and ended up cramping up on the way back. So please make sure you bring plenty of water and it never hurts to pack a trail bar and a PBJ. Make sure you are in decent shape if you are planning to do this ride. The Trailhead begins at the end of Andrea Street (off of North Benjamin) and there is plenty of FREE parking. This ride is about a 14 mile round trip and will take around 3-4 hour depending on what kind of shape you are in and how long you want to stay at the bench. The view out there is awesome so make sure to bring your camera and enjoy the serenity. Stop by Shoreline of Tahoe to get additional information about the ride. You can also pick up a good tahoe trail map, energy bar, and we stock plenty of bike accessories. Be safe out there and ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET!!!
