Highlights from the Bijou Battle Skate Jam. The event that almost wasn’t due to the rain, since we are all praying for snow, the rain is excepted. We all had a great time, check out the action, and next year we’ll have this event in the Summer.
Tons of prizes, fun for the whole family. Proceeds from this event will go to the Heavenly Ski and Snowboard foundation. Come on out, see some incredible Skakeboarding, and support the local athletes in their dream to continue to keep South Lake Tahoe the number one ski town.
I am writing from Winter Park, CO. We are competing here tomorrow and Friday in U.S. Freestyle Team Selections. Men’s qualification starts Wednesday and Friday at 12:15 PM Mountain Time (2:15 PM East Coast and 11:15 AM West Coast). Men’s finals is scheduled to start at 2:45 PM but that is subject to change based on how the event runs. There is going to be a run order on the website so it will you should be able to tell who is going and when I go. I will be running 40th in the run order and I will be wearing bib #67.
I am very excited to compete. Training has been going well and everything is coming together. The top two overall finishers from the two day event will get U.S. C Team spots. The top overall finisher from the two days will also get to ski the American World Cups inDeer Valley, UT and Lake Placid, NY. Thank you for your love and support. Heavenly Ski & Snowboard foundation coach Ed McClain has a new way to teach snowboarding….he does it in Tumbleweed Gymnastics Gym on Thursday evenings. No you won’t learn how to carve a turn, but if you need help landing your back side 540, then this is the ticket. The secret to many of the top performing aerial artist, in both skiing and snowboarding is a gymnastic back ground. If your serious about your sport, then you must include working out in a gymnastic gym to increase your chances of landing your tricks. If you in the area check out tumbleweed gymnastics off of Airport road, in gardnerville Nevada or find a gymnastic gym in your own home town, make some new friends, have some fun, and sharpen your aerial awearness.
Meet “Little Tony” a kid who has the correct support and training needed to become a great snowboarder. Ed McClain from the heavenly ski & snowboard Foundation does a great job with the up and coming local snowboarders. If your serious about becoming a great snowboarder seek out expert coaching.
