The Evo, Chumba’s six-inch-travel hard-hitting all-mountain machine, can charge through anything you can throw at it.

The Evo boasts an original looking frame design and big dropping freeride abilities with a well balanced ride. It demonstrates the effectiveness of the Chumba’s race program which they say feeds into the geometry and success of every bike they make today.
Ride & handling: made to soar

The Chumba is a freeride mustang. Its short cockpit and over built head tube gusset exude strength. The 14.25in bottom bracket height means it rides quite high, but this doesn’t impact its handling. The peddling of any bike with 6 inches of travel remains sloppy compaired to crosscountry designs, but the Evo is by far one of the better bikes to peddle.

It’s when airborne that you realize the true heart of this bike. The work that’s gone into the positioning the pivots and weight distribution makes perfect sense. It’s agile in the air and stable to land, it feels like it doesn’t want to be on the ground.
The Chumba really impressed us with its aerial feel and great ride feel, but we think it should stick to being a freeride bike.

The Frame with its clean cylindrical tubing and neat gussets are a good change from all the swoops and bends from other manufactures. Suspending the Evo’s frame is a four-bar system, which uses an unusually long swing-link that pivots from the down tube and meets with the seatstays halfway up the seat tube. The kinked seat tube means there’s limited seat adjustment, but it does allow a reasonable seat angle for climbing.

The Fox DHX Air shock is sitting fairly high on the frame, it doesn’t seem to have a negitive effect on the handling. We Thought is was going to be top heavy, but it was the opposite. It was surprisingly stable, largely because all the weighty parts sit directly under the rider in the middle of the chassis.
